My recent stay at Best Western Melbourne City was a mixed experience. The location was fantastic, making it easy to explore Melbourne, but the room left a lot to be desired in terms of size and facilities. The staff were friendly and accommodating, but the WiFi was spotty, which was a major bummer for me during my stay.

Rooms
5.0
I found my room to be really cramped, and the bathroom was super tiny. It barely had enough space for two suitcases, which was a hassle. However, it was clean and had everything necessary for my stay.
Service
8.0
The staff were genuinely welcoming and helpful, especially when I needed a room change due to the lack of a window in my original room. I appreciated their effort to make things right.
Location
9.0
The hotel is in a prime spot, close to Southern Cross Station and public transport, which made it easy to get around. Plus, it’s just a short walk from the aquarium and the convention center.
Dining
5.0
I didn't dine at the hotel because I found more appealing options nearby. However, I noticed that they offered some coffee that I heard was pretty good.
Facilities
5.0
WiFi was a letdown, only working well in certain areas. There’s a rooftop terrace for smokers, which is a nice touch, but overall, the facilities felt a bit lacking.

6.8/10

I had a pleasant stay at Best Western Melbourne City, thanks to its clean environment and friendly staff. However, the shower temperature issues and the lack of privacy in the bathroom were a letdown. Overall, it's a decent option for a quick city visit, especially given its great location.

Rooms
6.0
The Shoebox Double Room I stayed in was compact but had everything I needed for my overnight visit. The bed was comfortable, though I found the bathroom layout a bit awkward, especially with the frosting on the door that limited privacy when the light was on.
Service
7.0
The staff were generally accommodating and friendly. However, a few interactions were lacking warmth, as some did not greet me when I came and went. Still, I appreciated their efforts to check me into a bigger room upon request.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location is excellent, just a short walk from Southern Cross Station, making transport to and from the airport super convenient. It was also within reach of various restaurants and attractions, which added to the appeal.
Dining
7.0
I enjoyed the hot breakfast, especially the eggs cooked just the way I like them, but I wished for more variety. The adjoining café being closed was a bit of a bummer, as I was looking forward to dining in a quaint atmosphere.
Facilities
5.0
The laundry facility was a big plus. However, having only one functioning elevator was inconvenient, especially when I had to climb stairs with my luggage. Also, I found the bathroom a bit cramped, which made it difficult to navigate comfortably.

6.4/10

I had a great stay at Best Western Melbourne City. The location was perfect for me, just a couple of minutes from Southern Cross station and close to many attractions. My room was clean and well-appointed, though I did find the bathroom a bit cramped and the shower quite small. Overall, I appreciated the staff's attentiveness and would definitely consider staying here again.

Rooms
8.0
I stayed in a courtyard room, which was cozy but spacious enough for my needs. The bed was comfy, but I wish there was a queen-size option available instead of just a double. The bathroom layout could use some improvement, especially with the shower being quite small.
Service
8.0
The staff were friendly and very accommodating, especially during check-in. They brought me an extra blanket quickly, which I appreciated a lot. Although, checkout could have been smoother since that staff wasn't as cheerful.
Location
9.0
The hotel is about a 2-minute walk from Southern Cross station, making it super easy to travel around the city. It’s perfect for exploring the CBD and even strolling along the Yarra River. I found it ideal for accessing many popular spots.
Dining
7.0
I didn't eat at the hotel much, but I loved that there were nearby cafes with great options. Having a variety like European-style breakfast nearby was a nice touch for me.
Facilities
7.0
They offer essential amenities like laundry and tour assistance. However, I didn't get a chance to use any additional facilities during my stay.

7.2/10

I enjoyed my stay at Best Western Melbourne City primarily due to its fantastic location and friendly staff. The rooms, while compact, were functional, though cleanliness and maintenance could use some improvement. Overall, it struck a decent balance between value and comfort, but I wouldn't recommend it for families or longer stays.

Rooms

The Shoebox room was clean and comfortable, but definitely compact. The bathroom was quite small, which could be challenging for some. I felt safe in the room, and the amenities like the kettle and mini fridge were a nice touch.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and helpful, quickly responding to my requests and ensuring my room was tidied daily. However, I did notice some dirt that went unvacuumed during my stay.
Location

The hotel's location was excellent, just a short walk from Southern Cross Station and conveniently close to tram stops, making it easy to get around the city. It was perfect for my needs during my trip.
Dining

I had a decent breakfast that was filling and included a good variety, though nothing too extravagant.
Facilities
6.0
Basic facilities were available, including luggage storage which came in handy after checkout. However, I noticed the cleanliness of communal areas could be improved.

7.4/10

I recently stayed at Best Western Melbourne City and found it to be a mixed experience. The hotel has a fantastic location within walking distance to several attractions, including Southern Cross Station and various dining options. However, the rooms are extremely compact, and I faced some housekeeping issues during my stay. Overall, it's a decent choice for budget travelers, but there may be better options available if you're looking for more comfort.

Rooms
6.0
The room was quite small, especially the bathroom, which made it challenging to move around comfortably. I spent most of my time out exploring, so it wasn't a huge deal for me, but it might be cramped for two people. The decor was modern and everything was clean, but I did notice a few housekeeping inconsistencies.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and accommodating, which made my stay more pleasant. They provided great recommendations for nearby restaurants and were always willing to help with any questions I had. The service might lack warmth compared to other hotels I've stayed at, but it was still professional.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location is a major highlight. I could easily walk to Southbank, the Casino, and even the convention center. Plus, being close to Southern Cross Station made catching my flight a breeze. It's also near tram stops that can take you all over the city, making it super convenient.
Dining
7.0
The coffee shop downstairs offered a decent breakfast, but I found better options nearby. I appreciated having a café in the hotel, but I chose to explore local dining more often. It was a nice amenity for quick meals, though.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel had basic facilities, I encountered some issues with lift access during my stay. The amenities were suitable for a budget place, but I hoped for better housekeeping and room upkeep. Overall, the basic services were adequately met.
